How amazing is this kitchen?! Polished concrete is one of my favourite materials, especially when it’s used in such a fluid way, as shown in the Flower House, designed by Portuguese studio Ezzo. The concrete here was not actually polished, but given a waterproof coating to make it appear as though it has been polished. I also like that by sinking the kitchen, the two different levels have created two very separate spaces within one room. My only issue is that the floor merges into a work surface a little too close to a door for my liking, would the kitchen not end up full of dust and dirt? A very striking design anyway.
I love William Morris at the moment. Unfortunately, my student budget won’t stretch anywhere near being able to buy the beautiful chair and door curtains shown above (although the door curtains would be very much loved and appreciated in our draughty corner of rural Yorkshire…). I did get some very lovely cushions though, in the ‘Strawberry Thief’ print… Which are very similar to some being sold by a well known department store, though mine are from a company in Lancashire, they’re much better quality and, thankfully, a fraction of the price – hurrah for being thrifty!
